5 Paradoxes In Life That Defy Logic
Yet Somehow Make Perfect Sense
Some of the most important truths in life are contradictory. They seem to defy logic yet life experiences prove them to be right time and time again. It isn’t until we look a bit deeper, beneath the surface of contradictions, that real wisdom emerges.
Perhaps that’s why Carl Jung said: “Only the paradox comes anywhere near to comprehending the fullness of life.”
So let’s get to it. Below are five of my favourite paradoxes in life.
1. The Paradox of Growth
Growth seems to happen gradually, almost imperceptibly at times, then all at once.
The way bamboo grows is one of the best examples of this.
Bamboo can barely be seen for the first five years as it builds extensive root systems underground. Then it explodes ninety feet into the air within six weeks.
Our own personal and professional growth can follow a similar trajectory.
I know this from my own writing journey. For the first year, I wrote under the radar without anyone noticing me. Then after about 100 blogs or so things started to pick up. All of a sudden, I was able to write full time and earn a decent income from the words I wrote.
