I’ve been fascinated with the breath for almost 10 years now.

I’ve been teaching it for five. I practice it every day. And I think about it always.

Not only has it helped soothe my anxiety, but it’s also reduced the inflammation in my gut and connected me with something greater than myself.

Over the years, I’ve come to learn this:

  • By its nature, the breath is intimately connected to the nervous system, heart, brain, and digestion. When the breath slows down, so do all of these systems. When the breath speeds up, so do all of these systems.
Whatever happens next affects the thoughts that we think, the emotions that we feel, and the actions that we take.
  • In the wrong hands, breathing can be a stressful event
  • We experience every emotion with the change of the breath. When we learn to navigate and manage the breath, we can navigate (almost) any situation in life

So, with that being said, here are three of my top three breathing exercises for daily life and a fun sequence at the end to tie it all together.

Heart Coherent Breathing
