Forget about e=mc2. Forget about quantum physics. Forget about any other theory Albert Einstein proved in his lifetime.

This is his important question:

Is the universe a friendly place?

Why?

Because it lays the foundation for how we act in the world. It sets in motion what we believe in life. It’s how we come to know ourselves and our position in life.

If the universe is considered to be a friendly place, for example, there’s a better chance that I’ll act with love, kindness, openness, and compassion. If the universe is an unfriendly place, there’s a better chance that I’ll act with fear, greed, hostility, and anger.

I’ve been on both sides of the coin during my 34 years. I’ve flip-flopped between thinking the universe was good and bad, benevolent and evil depending on how my life was going at the time.

At times, I thought life was conspiring against me while at others, I’ve thanked it for giving me exactly what I need.

Now I don’t believe either. The universe isn’t friendly or unfriendly. It just is.
